One of the oldest towns in England, Ipswich was founded around the 7th century. Although areas of the ancient road can still be seen there has been a gentrification in Ipswich, particularly around the waterfront which was completely devastated in bombing during WWII. Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon came to Ipswich for a pilgrimage, Geoffrey Chaucer caricaturized the Ipswich merchants in Canterbury Tales and Charles Dickens stayed in Ipswich and used the town as a setting for The Pickwick Papers. Visitors today come to Ipswich for the beauty of the area as well as for the many attractions the town boasts.

Visitors can visit the Suffolk Leisure Park for a unique experience. This park allows visitors to ski in any season with its dry ski run. Lessons are available for all levels and toboggan rides will delights kids of all ages. A climbing wall and a high ropes course is available for the daring and those less inclined can try their hand a golf on the covered driving range. Sailing vessels and Royal Navy Ships can be admired at the Neptune Marina which is situated on the River Orwell. Only 10 minutes from the town center, the waterfront bustles with shops, art galleries, theatres, cinemas and historical buildings.
