Chiropractic medicine and its promoters have been the targets of unwarranted criticism and numerous hits below the belt lately, with the latest attack delivered in the form of an inciting billboard advertisement printed on the side of a bus in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Officials of the World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) suspect that the latest discrediting message is part of an ampler plan of spreading misinformation and staining the credibility of chiropractic in the eyes of the public.

The instigative advertisement, which asks "Injured by a chiropractor?" encourages people to access a website administered by an obscure organization self entitled "The Chiropractic Stroke Victims Awareness Group." Neither the message nor the website specified in the ad provides any leads on the identities of the persons supporting the group.

Leading chiropractic medicine figure and WCA CEO Terry A. Rondberg stated in a press interview that he wasn't at all shocked by the incisive attack against the chiropractic community. “In recent years, chiropractic has made tremendous inroads into the American health care system. The increased popularity of a wellness approach that doesn't rely on drugs and surgery is very threatening to some elements of our society”, said Dr. Terry A. Rondberg. “They have a huge financial interest in eliminating chiropractic”, he added.

Back in the 90’s, the federal court of justice pronounced a sentence that saw the American Medical Association guilty of conspiring with other affiliated medical institutions in what the prosecutors had called "a lengthy, systematic, successful and unlawful boycott" aimed at seeing off chiropractic from the list of strong competitors. Many voices in the healthcare industry promote the opinion that, despite their court-imposed interdiction to resort to any other acts of illegal conduct, the drug and medical industry still don’t hesitate to throw themselves head first in fervent anti-chiropractic disputes. However, the medical industry has grown wise enough to only engage in sabotage missions under the safe cover of anonymous organizations.

Contrary to the recent billboard’s negative propaganda, elaborate medical research conducted in the field has successfully proved on multiple occasions that chiropractic is exceptionally safe, especially when placed side by side with conventional medical treatments. As for the incidence of stroke ensuing chiropractic corrective remedies, the frequency rate of such accidents has been estimated at fewer than 1 to 3 cases per million chiropractic adjustments.

Prominent figures in the medical research community have also aligned their opinions on the fact that chiropractic care involves far less of a stroke risk compared to medical treatment. As Philip Lee, MD, active participant in a survey brought forward at the American Heart Association's 19th International Joint Conference on Stroke and Cerebral Circulation, had no other choice but to admit himself – an extensive list of interventions carried out by allopathic physicians are indeed more dangerous than chiropractic remedies.

In response to the repeated acts of sabotage and numerous blows to the international reputation of chiropractic care, the WCA are now more determined than ever to fight for their cause and lift the cloud of negative speculation surrounding the organization. Dr. Terry A. Rondberg confirms this vehement stance in a statement for the press: "We will provide accurate, documented information about the safety of chiropractic, including medical evidence. We respect everyone's right to have and voice their opinion about chiropractic, but freedom of speech does not sanction libelous and false advertising. It's time our opponents were forced to tell the truth".
