Yes, we all have heard of anorexia and it's currently the most commonly recognized of all eating disorders by the medical community. Except for those who suffer from the eating disorder known as Bulimia it's necessary that they same emphasis is placed on treating it as anorexia. For many eating disorders, bulimia included their are many health issues related to them.
In some cases there are bulimics (sufferers of bulimia) who prefer to restrict the quantity of food they consume as an anorexic does. However in the majority of cases when someone has the eating disorder bulimia what they like to try to to is consume and then attempt a range of different methods in order to expel it from their bodies when they have eaten it.
It is important that when thinking if you or someone you know is bulimic is to not confuse this disorder with binge eating. A person who is bulimic can prefer to eat regular meals and then once consumed will then find ways that of obtaining the food they need eaten out of their system. The most common ways in which they are doing this can be through out self-induced vomiting or through taking laxatives.
The most important drawback faced both by those close to a sufferer of a bulimia or by a medical skilled is actually recognizing that they have the condition in the first case. With anorexia and binge eating people can see that the person's weight changes dramatically. But with bulimia there could be no distinction in their weight, though for a few they will be overweight.
Like all eating disorders each one can cause seriously health issues to the sufferer. With bulimia those that select to get rid of the food they need eaten through self-induced vomiting are inserting considerable amounts of strain on to their heart and different major organs within the body.
The opposite major downside with self-induced vomiting and the taking of laxatives to purge the body of those foods is that the person is not obtaining sufficient amounts of nutrients into it. It's these nutrients which actually facilitate with the body to function properly especially in relation to any or all major organs and alternative systems inside the body. If a person is for bulimic for any length of time this could turn into a life threatening situation.
Together with the opposite forms of eating disorders in most cases there's an underlying psychological cause for an individual to suffer from them. Definitely when it comes to anorexia nervosa (the foremost common of them all) there is a better chance of these full of this one to develop bulimia as well. Several doctors there find that by treating the underlying psychological causes they'll treat these disorders much more effectively.
Though someone you may recognize could have suffered from bulimia at some stage of their life, simply because they seem to be eating properly currently does not mean that they are suffering any more. After all this is often the complete opposite and it is solely once they need faced up to the very fact that they are plagued by eating disorders, bulimia included can they then ask for help to treat it.
