Martial arts, healing arts and meditative arts are all interconnected. When you merge a martial art the expands the mind and body coordination, you have got a meditation art form which embraces spirit. This is by definition a healing art whereby there's a coordination of communication, energy flow and an deeper understanding of body, mind and spirit.

The background and history of martial arts as a healing art is appreciate that of Buddhism that exists throughout all of Asia. When following the path of Buddhism it will be tracked from India to Tibet and then to China where is came into contact with Taoism, that defined the underlying philosophy of Yin and Yang still because the "nature of amendment". Out of the combination of the two, both Buddhism and Taoism, came the teachings of Chan, which literally interprets because the word for "meditation".

Chan teaching went further on into Japanese culture and developed into Zen Buddhism, both of which relate to the concept of meditation as an key to their religious beliefs and final enlightenment. Eventually is was discovered that you can't just sit while not moving the body. And you cannot just move the body while not becoming still, you have got to do both. This understanding is what led to the invention of what we have a tendency to know as the common day martial arts. The art of the being still and the art of moving with stillness.

One amongst the primary designs was known as Kung Fu, which embodied eighteen movements with a arduous, external style that was in direct opposition to the meditation of sitting for long hours. The Japanese Samurai, a warrior category, developed their own fighting vogue referred to as Karate. The knowledge of techniques frequently traveled forwards and backwards between both Japan and China, in which a cultural exchange between martial art ways overlapped and were cultivated.

Tai Chi Chuan could be a form of martial art that developed from this exchange. Adopted by the Chinese as a kind of meditation and exercise, it is a slow and sleek series of 108 movements. There are a number of variations and variations to the initial version, but the tip result's the same. It is a way to exercise and move all the joints, ligaments and muscles of the physical body whereas maintaining deep inner follow of meditation. It is a manner to focus energy and direct it's movement, that always begins with a strong inner core or energy. Developing this center of "chi" which emanates from the abdominal region of the body is absolute key to the apply of Tai Chi. When done correctly balance between body, mind and spirit is achieved and healing will occur on several levels.

Practiced these days in by all ages of Asian peoples, Tai Chi can have lasting effects on reducing stress levels by relaxing tension in the body and allowing the natural circulation of movement to flow unhindered throughout the body. This healing art provides deep feelings of interconnectedness with all of life, maintaining great health and vibrancy up till the later years of life.
