One issue that stops many of us creating additional freely is that we feel we have a tendency to keep jumping from theme to theme with totally different projects and don't turn out a massive consistent piece of design sort of a novel or a movie or a series of paintings around a central concept.
We tend to feel that in some approach this would build us "real" artists rather than the "dabblers" we are now.
Is that this one thing you've felt has held you back in your artistic life?
While it's a great achievement to be in a position to form large themed artworks, it's far from essential to prove that you're an artist or that you're capable of being highly artistic during a number of different ways.
Hold this belief too closely and it can cause significant damage, putting a huge ball and chain round the ankles of your creativity, simply when you are prepared to require off.
The reality is, that EVERYTHING you create IS part of a grand theme. That theme is you and your life!
The greatest creation of anyone's life IS their life. We tend to create ourselves, who we are and what we do.
For artistic people like us, a massive half of this overall creation is the art we have a tendency to create. Every tiny inventive act - every thought, plan, action, word, note and brushstroke - adds up to defining you because the unique creative person you're right now.
Making an attempt to set up everything you produce in intricate detail is almost perpetually a recipe for artistic block, frustration and complete inactivity.
Creativity need to flow freely, to run where it needs to run.
Imagine you are standing at the high of a road on a steep incline with a water hose. As you gradually turn on the water provide, you can't predict specifically how it will run down the hill. One thing is definite, it won't run in a excellent single stream an inch wide. It can meander, diverge, tumble over and around obstacles, type tiny pools along the approach, get momentarily stuck up against tiny dams, partly seep into the bottom below, and partly evaporate in the warmth of the sun.
Keep the hose turned on though, and the water can continue to flow till it reaches the underside of the hill.
So much additional fascinating than the stream reaching the tip of the hill is watching all the complex details and adventures of its journey.
It's the same along with your creativity. Yes you'll have a general aim or theme (for the water this is to get to the foot of the hill). Plus it's good to own certain set boundaries to help you focus (the direction the hose initially points in, the width of the road, the speed the water flows etc).
So long as you keep pouring - as long as you retain disclosure and creating what your passions and urges lead you to form - you'll notice all the themes and ideas you wish along the way.
Thus stop designing, stop obtaining fixed in multilayered detailed plans and begin creating! These days!
