The movie could be a rip-roaring comedy about the situational goofs committed by a try of honest cops. The film has been written by the brother pair of Markand and Robb Cullen, authors of many top rated movies of Hollywood and directed by Kevin Smith, whose many movies have featured in the prime ten movies list. Cop Out is the only movie, among the numerous top movies in his career that Kevin has directed but not authored the screenplay. James 'Jimmy' Monroe, played by Bruce Willis, star of many top 10 movies and Paul Hodges, played by Tracy Morgan, another star who is always in the high rated movies in the circuit, are 2 honest cops in NYPD who are celebrating ninth anniversary of togetherness on the force. They have been suspended by the Captain for failing to capture the notorious criminal Juan Diaz, role enacted by veteran and star of the many top rated movies, Cory Fernandez. Jimmy needs fifty thousand bucks for the wedding of his daughter Ava, played by the beautiful Michelle Trachtenberg, star of the many high movies.
Jason Lee, star of the many top 10 movies, has essayed the role of Roy, second husband of Jimmy's ex-wife who offers connected the expenses of the wedding, but Jimmy feels humiliated by this act of Roy. Paul sets up a video camera inside a toy teddy bear to spy on his wife Debbie, role enacted by charming Rashida Jones, who has starred in many prime movies. Jimmy and Paul attempt to sell-off an previous baseball card featuring Andy Pafko to gather cash for the wedding. Dave, a robber played by Sean William Scott, steals the card and snatches Paul's favorite gun. Dave is finally arrested but not before he has sold the gun and the card to a drug lord to buy drugs.
Guillermo Diaz is Poh Boy, is that the drug lord to whom Dave has sold the stolen card. Boy agrees to return the card if they get him his stolen car. On realizing that she has been spied on by Paul, Debbie flees but leaves the main points on a flash drive of cash she has kept in foreign banks. Jimmy and Paul take Dave along to retrieve the cardboard and the gun, but Dave dies once falling from a tree. Boy's gang captivates them and Debbie, who wasn't cheating on Paul however needed to help him. Paul kills Boy, but the bullet pierces the card hidden in Boy's pocket. Everything is peaceful now. Jimmy and Paul have got back their job and also medals for eliminating the drug lord and saving the lives of 2 policemen within the shootout.
The movie is an out and out laugh riot. Willis and Morgan have given wonderful performances and carry the movie forward in a breezy manner. Rashida is lovely and charming in the movie and supports the duo perfectly. Diaz is an old hand at enacting such roles and is suave in his character. Though Kevin Smith did not script the film, being a master story teller he keeps the movie on quick pace. A light-weight comedy that is certain to tickle your funny bone.
