Let's Presuppose
I read somewhere that a person solely had thirty seconds to make an impression. But what if that thirty seconds was already worn-out, before the person put in an look? And what if, the thirty seconds were used by somebody who cared regarding them?
How often will someone really enter a relationship with a clean slate? Perhaps that 1st thirty seconds is being used to override the previous impression left by somebody else.
What would happen if, you entered all encounters with another person believing first and foremost:
1) The positive price of the individual is held constant whereas the price and appropriateness of the internal and/or external behavior is questioned.
Several times adults, teens and youngsters behave during a means that's deemed as inappropriate for the present situation. Individuals are individuals, what they are doing, how they are doing, and when they do will and does modification often. Search for a change within the doing.
Once the behavior has been identified specialize in this next presupposition:
two) There is a positive intent motivating each behavior, and a context in which each behavior has value.
Be curious......why is the person behaving that means, when would that behavior be a lot of useful. Awareness is the primary step to change. Typically something as straightforward as acknowledging the behavior, matters and therefore the reaction or response the behavior is generating could bring a fast and straightforward behavior change and resolution to a possible problem.
Once the reason for the behavior has been established, specialize in this next presupposition:
three) The resources a personal needs to impact modification are already among them.
Time to look for a totally different behavior and there are plenty to choose from that are
acceptable for things, while maintaining and appreciating the price of the current behavior.
At some point a cluster of children were working with their parents. The assignment was to help the parent to become a lot of successful using all the NLP tools learned together with the representational systems, and sub-modalities.
One piece of the assignment was to explain the presuppositions of NLP to their folks and identify how and when to use them at work and home.
One amongst the parents did not understand the first presupposition and once awhile voices were raised and frustration was apparent. I asked the child to return to me for a moment, thus I may give an extra example of the presupposition.
I began by initial reminding him of times during the past few days when he was doing something, and I asked him to change what he was doing. His eyes grow very giant and fearful, as he asked, "Am I in trouble".
I laughed and ruffled his hair, "No, you are excellent exactly as you are. I am simply giving you a further example to use!"
"Now, does one bear in mind those times?"
He smiled, "Yes, there have been many."
"I agree, there have been several, but each time I simply asked you to change what you were doing, not who you are. See my point?"
His smile crammed the space, as he thumped his chest, and said "I AM the instance!" and with that example modified his behavior again.
These three straightforward presuppositions can be used in any state of affairs, from a co-worker who is usually holding one thing back, to a kid who doesn't speak up. The co-employee isn't mean or insecure and the child isn't shy. They're behaving as if.......which too can change.
If you're interested in how NLP works with youngsters, attend any of Elizabeth's workshops/seminars and programs. Youngsters are the common denominator, in understanding patterns, beliefs, habits, behaviors.......as a result of we were all youngsters once and some of us continue to behave like kids
