I'm eighteen years recent and I've got been having migraines since before I might talk.
After I was a baby, just beginning to steer, I'd have terrible fits where I'd grab my head and scream. My initial memory of my childhood was a migraine.
My doctor thought I had a brain tumor till I had an MRI and other testing. I beginning seeing a neurologist in the fifth grade and went on my initial preventative daily medication. (I can't even remember what it was since I have been on therefore many.) Because the years went along, my medicines modified rapidly as a result of nothing seemed to assist my headaches. Finally, in eighth grade, they place me on Topamax. This worked for a long time.
If my headaches started obtaining unhealthy again,my neurologist would simply raise the dosage.
It wasn't till my junior year of high college that I extremely started having major problems. In the future after cross country follow, I just passed out with no warning. No one thought it absolutely was a huge deal as a result of it absolutely was a hot day and we did a long run. However, it just kept happening and I was having alternative symptoms: horrible dizziness, heart racing, and my limbs would go numb.
Thus I had a bunch of tests done with my heart and everything seemed to be fine. The cardiologist referred me back to my neurologist and said people with a history of migraines will have these symptoms. Because it turned out, it was my headaches causing all of this.
My neurologist determined I used to be having "sophisticated migraines" (or kind B migraines) and decided I needed to change medicines and he put me on Keppra. This failed to trust my system and I used to be having terrible migraines everyday together with passing out multiple times a day. I was going to the emergency space virtually each week. I was admitted for any treatment.
All this was during the varsity year.
I missed forty six days of my junior year and lost several friends and a boyfriend as a result of they don't perceive migraines. Eventually, my neurologist put me back on my Topamax however raised the dosage, but I conjointly had to go on birth contol, Yaz. I took the Yaz continuously therefore I wouldn't have periods as a result of my headaches and passing out continually appeared to be a little worse during that time. This worked well for concerning ten months.
In March (of this year) I started with terrible headaches and dizziness. I passed out at my job and started missing more school.
My gynecologist thought maybe the contraception stopped working in my favor therefore she switched me to Nuva Ring. The headaches and dizziness continued together with three more instances of passing out. My graduation was 2 weeks ago and I almost did not build it.
I essentially "overdosed" on Maxalt which numbed the pain for maybe twenty five minutes but it did build me completely out of it, so between that and having an intense migraine I don't bear in mind receiving my diploma. My neurologist finally set to take me off of the Topamax and put me on Neurontin. Thus as of right now, I am being slowly come into being of Topamax and put on this new drug.
Unfortunatly, it isn't doing much. I have had a horrible headache (the can't take a look at light-weight or move your head up from the pillow kind) for the past month. The doctor is looking it a chronic migraine and he is giving me two a lot of weeks to try and break it with Maxalt, Zomig, drinking mass amounts of sports drinks, no matter else I want to attempt that hasn't seemed to figure nonetheless or I've got to be admitted into the hospital for a second time for treatment.
