Nopalea and Hydration

Hot summer days are about lazing around at the lake or the pool or maybe tossing a Frisbee around a large patch of grass. Summer days are about light meals such as salads and cool, hydrating drinks.

One of the most delicious hydrating and healthy drinks around is Nopalea Juice. This drink, made from the prickly pear cactus, will provide hydration, but also health benefits like no other liquid.

Sure you can drink water or ice tea or lemonade, but why not, while you are drinking something, put something inside your body that is healthy now and could prevent health problems in the future.

The all natural Nopalea drink contains special properties called betalains, which are antioxidants. The cactus also blooms into wonderful, colorful red, purple or yellow blossoms. It is one of only a few types of plant life that contains a special pigment, known as betalains.

The Opuntia cactus plant – also known as the Nopales and Nopal Cactus – contains a plethora of vitamins and minerals. But the most exciting component of Nopalea is its anti inflammatory properties.

Nearly a decade ago, Time magazine shocked the world with its story about inflammation. According to the cover story, inflammation is the body’s first response to invaders. This line of defense on the immunological front helps fight off invaders. This inflammation battles microbes and bacteria that could be deadly. Inflammation only becomes a problem when the body’s immunological response of doesn’t turn off even after the battle is over. This leads to chronic inflammation. What ends up happening is this chronic inflammation may actually be the underlying, root cause of diseases ranging from Alzheimer’s to colon cancer.

The article in Time said that chronic inflammation may also be linked to suffering heart attacks. It works like this: inflammation might loosen up plaque, sending it through the arteries and into the heart or brain. In the heart it could cause a heart attack. In the brain, damaged cells might lead to Alzheimer’s.

Many believe that the use of the Nopal Cactus dates all the way back to the Aztecs . They used the plant for both food and medicinal uses. And after travelers from Spain arrived in North America, they soon came to appreciate all that the prickly pear cactus had to offer. They brought the plant back home and now the plant can be found growing around the world.

People around the world harvest it for food and medicine. You can eat the pads of the cactus and also the colorful fruit or flowers, which are pigmented brilliant yellows, reds and purples. The blossoms called Nopalitos are made into Nopalea Juice. Drinking the juice is the best, and easiest way to reap the benefits of the cactus.

Nopalea Juice is all natural and sweetened with a wide variety of delicious fruits such as blueberries and even kiwi. Drinking the juice is the easiest way to take advantage of the plant’s health properties.
Even the famous Dr. Oz has spoken about the wonders of the prickly pear cactus. He called it one of the seven wonders of the world.
Author Resource:- Frank Yocanis has been studying the health benefits of the prickly pear cactus, known as Nopalea for the past decade. He has even traveled to the Sonoran desert to try the plant in its native state with the people who have been growing them for centuries. Find out more at: http://www.nopalea.com.
