Before I say anything regarding Spirituality and spiritualism one must initial understand that there is a marked difference between religion and spirituality. The immediate distinction between faith and spirituality is that while faith is exclusive- in that one has to subscribe to that one faith at the exclusion of all alternative religions, faiths, and beliefs, spirituality is inclusive in that anyone adherent of any faith can embrace spirituality and retain their non secular standing or place in that religion. Spirituality cuts across religious, cultural, traditional, social-political and educational barriers. In other words, one does not need to abandon one's faith in order to be an addict, student or practitioner of spirituality. During this manner, religions are limiting however spirituality is not. For this reason one can rightly say that compared to faith, spirituality can be said to be the upper state or consciousness of religion. If it were a coin, the religious facet bears limitations of beliefs, religion and dogma and therefore the spirituality facet is the mark of infinite consciousness and freedom.

Love is the foundation and the selfless service is the fruit of this terribly non secular consciousness or the liberation of the soul.
The essence of every religion, fundamentally, is aimed for the attainment of non secular enlightenment, spiritual consciousness proximity to God, love, compassion, and eternal peace in the life here after. Beneath such a common definition and understanding, it becomes obvious that religion is bound to be deeply a private matter in every sense of the word. On the contrary, if religion assumes the characteristics of a doctrine that is primarily involved with issuing laws on how to supply prayers and how many times, people's wealth and its distribution, dress code, sex life, punishment for crimes etc, then the whole concept of spirituality loses its Godly element. A religion of such nature, then simply becomes part of human civilization, a political ideology for a group of individuals who choose to follow a sure social orders and customs. Then we have a tendency to as humans go so much faraway from spirituality and spiritualism. Spirituality is one's character or quality that creates one transcend the barriers of worldliness, caste, creed and sensuality; and understand one's association with the Truth. At this point I would love to mention a few words about Islam which is that the second largest religion in the world. Does Islam allow a private's quest for the data of the existence of God on a private level, using his own intellect, senses, and wisdom? The solution is a huge NO! A Muslim is bound to limit his freedom of conscience inside the frame of Quranic prescriptions.
