Having a paper folder can save you a lot of time and make your workday a lot easier. One of the best ones you can buy is the Martin Yale 1701 Electronic Autofolder. This is a great machine that would be ideal for use in copy shops, mail rooms, and more. Here s what you need to know about this product before you buy it.

The details:

* The 1701 can fold a lot of different sizes of paper. You can fold sheets that are as small as 3.5 x 5 or as large as 8.5 x 14 (legal size). (The weight can range from 16 to 28 lb.) It has a folding capacity of 150 sheets and is capable of folding a maximum of 9,000 sheets per hour. So when you use this device, you ll definitely be able to process a lot of paper quickly.

* This device has the ability to fold documents that have already been stapled. These documents can contain a maximum of 5 pages and they need to be hand fed into the machine.

* The 1701 is very easy to use. All you really need to do is load your paper and press a button for it to start folding your documents. You don t need to fuss around with the fold plates at all, which is very time saving and convenient. There are 17 preset folds so you re bound to find just the fold you re looking for and not have to program anything in. You also don t need to fan your sheets so you ll save a little bit of time.

* Some of the folds this machine can do include the following: letter (except when working with legal sized paper), Z fold, double parallel, baronial, and right angle.

* This device doesn t have an adjustable speed setting. Therefore, folding very thick or glossy paper isn t possible because those materials require slower speeds. If you do try to process them with the 1701, you ll likely end up with a paper jam.

* This machine is pretty large, so if you purchase it, make sure you have enough room for it. Its dimensions are 20.6 (width) x 15.3 (height) x 17.2 (depth). It s also a bit on the heavy side, weighing in at almost 40 pounds, so you ll want to get some help if you ever need to move it.

* Cleaning this device will be a bit challenging at first because you need to remove the top and side covers to get at the interior of it. However, once you get the hang of it, you should be able to clean the machine rather quickly. (Plus, cleaning only needs to be done a couple of times per year.)

* The 1701 is very affordably priced and will only set you back around $1,500.00.

The verdict:

Although the Martin Yale 1701 Electronic Autofolder has a couple of minor drawbacks, such as its lack of an adjustable speed settings, it nonetheless is a great choice if you need a paper folder. It s easy to use, can do a number of different folds, and it s affordable. So if you need a device like this, get the 1701 for your workplace today.
