A Communication Disconnect Between Two Cultures

LeWeb is one of the few events in Europe that gets successful internet businessmen from North Yank to come back to Europe to debate internet trends. It is an initiative by the French man Loic LeMeur who runs a business in California.

At least one Yank panelist conveyed that he did not want to adapt his communication to a completely different culture.

I wish to tell you ways I personally reacted to the incident.

Through The Eyes Of A Potential Attendee

First I've got to grant you some background info:

? LeWeb happens in Paris, an hour's drive in for me

? Naturally, I thought of going

In the top, I decided against it for a combination of reasons:

? What individuals truly accept

Ripe Surroundings For Wrong Dialogue

The most query:

? Was there a cultural disconnect before the controversy on whether 2-hour lunches make French entrepreneurs less productive compared to Yank entrepreneurs?

? Was there a cultural disconnect with totally different expectations of the European audience?

? Would the Americans behaved the identical if this was an occurrence between Americans and a more japanese region of the world?

? Would the French have behaved differently if they didn't feel awe for the Americans of Silicon Valley?

Sharing meals is full of symbolism in many countries.

Even in the United States...

France USA In Business
