Roots of trees serve 3 purposes. 1st, they take up the nutrients from the soil and convey them up to the trunk, branches and leaves of the trees. Second, they clutch the water from the bottom therefore that this water will not go down immediately to the river all at once but solely gradually. And third, roots build the trees stand tall and firm by grasping the earth on that they stand. The lifetime of the trees depends on their roots as conjointly upon the sun, the air and also the soil around them.
In the identical means the vitality of your religious life depends upon the roots of your spirituality, your non secular roots. That is why you wish to go back to these non secular roots. Most people do not even know that their non secular life has roots, let alone what these roots are.
By going back to your spiritual roots you will recognize how you'll be able to rebuff in your religious life and you may be in a position to draw more from the richness of the tradition of your spirituality.
You also would like to travel back to your non secular roots because for nearly all of us, and so it includes you too, our spirituality is something that is overlaid on our native consciousness. By native consciousness I mean the consciousness with which we have a tendency to were born. Our spirituality isn't integrated with this native consciousness, it only covers it. That is why I said it's one thing overlaid on our native consciousness. A private reference may build this clear.
I used to be born to Filipino parents. However no prior to a week after my birth the mantle, because it were, of Catholicism was put over me by baptism. Catholicism is not a faith native to us. It was brought to our shores by the Spaniards. And therefore the process of overlaying me with Catholic doctrines and practices began. Naturally I grew up thinking I was a Catholic.
The truth of the matter was that I only behaved and looked sort of a Catholic. Deep within me the native religion of the Filipinos was suppressed and coated over with Catholic non secular practices and my consciousness was drowned in the sea of Catholic doctrines.
Later through readings I came to know what my native faith was called. Anthropologists and historians decision it Animism. However once I personally revived my native faith I found a better term to decision it with. It's not Animism but Vitalism.
Animism relies on the fundamental premise that plants and animals have anima, a soul. I discovered that even this idea of soul is foreign to us Filipinos. It came to us from the Greek Aristotle through the Spaniards still. Thus I don't subscribe to Animism as my native religion.
Vitalism, on the opposite hand, is based on the fundamental premise that each one things, not only plants and animals, have life, not just existence. The soil, the stone, the iron railings, the clouds, the air have life. This is the basic belief of my native religion, coated over by Catholicism for many years. (This understanding of Vitalism is a bit totally different from that offered within the dictionary that defines it because the "theory or doctrine that life processes arise from or contain a nonmaterial very important principle and can't be explained entirely as physical and chemical phenomena.")
I do not know what your native religion is. However if you belong to one of the nice religions of the world, like Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, probabilities are that your religion has lined over your native spirituality.
And just because the strength and vitality of a tree depend upon its roots, therefore conjointly the strength and vitality of your spirituality rely upon its roots, the religious treasures God gifted you with even before you were born, within the tribe or ethnic group to which you belong.
How then does one return to your religious roots therefore as to draw upon these spiritual treasures? I already told you ways I went to my religious roots: by reading regarding my native faith, by practicing it, and by reflecting upon it. You can do the same.
1st, find out about your native religion, the faith of your tribe or ethnic group. Exponents of the planet's nice religions may tell you that your religion is pagan and crammed with superstitions. Do not entertain such comment. As you learn a lot of concerning your native religion, you'll appreciate its beauty and richness. Read more concerning your ethnic origins. All folks belong to an ethnic cluster as a result of God created tribes, not just individual persons.
Second, apply your native religion. As you follow it I am positive you'll respect and love additional your environment. Today there is much talk about global warming and environmental degradation. The waters of the ocean are rising as the earth's temperature increases, melting the icecaps of the north and south poles. This is often as a result of whole populations have forgotten the religion and spirituality God endowed them with and have adopted man-created religions which are manipulative of the earth.
Third, replicate on your native religion. Integrate it with the religion that you have got acquired as an adult. The marriage of your native religion and that that you've got acquired (if you probably did acquire one) will turn out a richer and stronger spirituality. I'm sure of it as a result of it did in my case.
